“Cobra Matte” - The Pack A.D., “We Kill Computers” (Mint Records, 2010)
You know it’s a good song when it can get you repeatedly singing a nonsense two-note line under your breath. I have no idea what “cobra matte” might mean, but I’m looking forward to hearing more music from this two-woman Canadian garage rock group. I want to compare them to Sleater-Kinney but maybe that’s just because all-female rock groups are pretty rare (and they’re both from Cascadia). A lot of writing on them compares them with my favorite rock band, The Black Keys, and so far I don’t think that’s wrong.
