“Do The Rump” - The Black Keys, “The Big Come Up” (Alive Records, 2002)
I meant to do this on the exact first anniversary of this blog, but I missed that and then was away for the holidays. But, I figure the first post of the new year is equally significant. This is a cover of the Junior Kimbrough song for which the blog is named (the song goes by both “romp” and “rump” depending on the recording, but I thought “romp” was much more appealing as names go). The Black Keys have been one of my favorite bands for a few years now, and this is a worthy cover, off their debut album—before they signed to Kimbrough’s old label, Fat Possum.
