“Ring Ring” - Sleigh Bells, [single, unsigned] (2009)

How to make absolutely sure your song is not the first hit on Google when people search for it: name your band “Sleigh Bells” and name the song “Ring Ring”. Regardless, this is a fantastic pop song. Apparently this Brooklyn band had their breakout at CMJ this year, so I hope they’ll have some shows around the city soon. Alexis Krauss’ singing has a charming schoolyard lilt to it that reminds me of TLC or MIA. (Perhaps she should get a three-letter acronym.) As a whole, the song reminds me most of Beck—try listening to it and imagining him singing; it works.
